This is for someone that is coming to do the run in Hermosa Beach. The Virtual 2 Mile Run is for someone that will be participating but can’t make it to Hermosa Beach. We have a community that stretches the country\, so it is fun to allow them to sign up from afar and run in their home city. The Donation $25/$50/$100 is if someone can’t make it\, or just doesn’t like to run\, they can donate to the cause. \nJust like our Almost 10k races in Calabasas\, this run will be best known for its festive atmosphere. DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION PAGE \nThe 7th Annual POR Almost 10k and 5k Trail Race (plus 1 mile fun walk/run) will take place this year on Saturday November 2nd\, 2019! The race takes runners through the stunning trails and hills of Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas\, CA. The race starts promptly at 9am. Come early as pre-race activities will start @ 8:30am. Registration will open by 7am. \nThe Annual POR Almost 10k/5k is best known for its festive atmosphere.  A true celebration with supporters dressing for the occasion! Check out the course maps and descriptions: \n\n5k Summary:\n\nDownload Map\nThe 5k course is a flat trail run designed for all types of runners. Runners will have plenty of room to run and pass others over much of the course. There will be one section of the course where runners must stay to the right as the course doubles back on itself. There will be 2 water stations on the course and running joggers/strollers will be allowed on the 5k course. Remember to smile for the cameras!\n \n\n10k Summary:\n\nDownload Map\nThe Almost 10k course is a challenging trail. For this distance we will not allow strollers/joggers due to the many single track areas of the course. For the 10k distance we recommend racers to wear trail running shoes and bring hydration. There will be 3 water stations on the course. \nThis course is challenging\, and features over 1\,250 feet in elevation gains. Hill training is suggested. The most challenging portion of the run is a climb at the midpoint of the race. At the top of this climb we will have a spotter ready to take your picture at an area designated as “Meerkat Lake”. Smile for the camera and sauté the remaining 5k back to the finish. \nBut don’t fret\, this course is BEAUTIFUL! You will go through the vast wilderness Malibu Park has to offer. Runners will pass the iconic Reagan Ranch\, and are further rewarded with amazing trails completely covered by the treeline. This is a trail runners dream run! SUMMARY:POR POOL PARTY ~ Phoenix\, AZ
DESCRIPTION:We are always open to new ideas to have fun and raise some money for our outreach. This year we got the call from the Hammonds\, and they told us that their pool is finished and they want to host a party to celebrate the summer heat with some friends. If you are looking to get a sunburn\, or just dehydrate yourself to the max\, this is something you should be adding to your social calendar.  \n  \nTony and Abby have known the meerkats since they were born. They have been to our Almost 10k races and even have brought up a conversion van of friends for the race. Their costumes usually rank among the best in west.  \n  \nDetails on the pool party include live music\, drinks and a pool. Everything is provided once you show up. The party will start around 2pm – 8pm on Saturday June 8th. Phoenix is a great place to try new activities. So build out a weekend of hiking Camelback\, golfing or Top Golfing\, go downtown for the First Friday street festival\, have some wings @ JT’s\, tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s house Taliesin West\, or just find a nice comfortable place in the air conditioning.  \n  \nThis is going to be fun and hopefully something we can do more of. Having a fundraising pool party is a little bit different\, but when you want to be outside and it is 100+ degrees out\,  you better be in the water! Check out the event on facebook to RSVP.  \n

The race takes runners through the stunning trails and hills of Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas\, CA. \n\n\n2017 Race Results\n\nThe Annual POR Almost 10k/5k is best known for its festive atmosphere.  A true celebration with supporters dressing for the occasion! Starting at 7pm POR Meerkats will have space reserved. Big Dean’s is located conveniently under the Santa Monica Pier. You will enjoy being outdoors\, just a few feet from the ocean and beach! Check out the course maps and descriptions: \n\n5k Summary:\nThe 5k course is a flat trail run designed for all types of runners. Runners will have plenty of room to run and pass others over much of the course. There will be one section of the course where runners must stay to the right as the course doubles back on itself. There will be 2 water stations on the course and running joggers/strollers will be allowed on the 5k course. Remember to smile for the cameras! \nClick to enlarge\nDownload Map\n\n\n10k Summary:\nThe Almost 10k course is a challenging trail. For this distance we will not allow strollers/joggers due to the many single track areas of the course. For the 10k distance we recommend racers to wear trail running shoes and bring hydration. There will be 3 water stations on the course. \nThis course is challenging\, and features over 1\,250 feet in elevation gains. Hill training is suggested. The most challenging portion of the run is a climb at the midpoint of the race. At the top of this climb we will have a spotter ready to take your picture at an area designated as “Meerkat Lake”. Smile for the camera and sauteé the remaining 5k back to the finish. \nBut don’t fret\, this course is BEAUTIFUL! You will go through the vast wilderness Malibu Park has to offer. Runners will pass the iconic Reagan Ranch\, and are further rewarded with amazing trails completely covered by the treeline. This is a trail runners dream run! DESCRIPTION:To kick off Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month\, we held our 5th Annual POR Almost 10k. The energy was high and the weather was perfect! More than 400 people ran and cheered the meerkats and meerkittens through the Malibu Canyons. The morning started with Chris Amato’s French National Anthem\, which got the runners primed to experience our new course. DESCRIPTION:POR BINGO night at Hamburger Mary’s is not your traditional BINGO event.  There may be people wearing wigs\, but there is nothing geriatric about this wild night in West Hollywood.  In 2017 we gave away Lakers tickets\, Disneyland adventures\, behind the scenes access to some of your favorite shows and more.   The spirit and energy is electric and we are so happy to have such wonderful partners and donors to raise awareness and funds for our Sentry Club.
